Why You Should WANA

mywanapartAbout a year and a half ago, I was lucky enough to stumble upon Kristen Lamb’s blog. I didn’t know it at the time, but that was a pivotal moment for me and my career. Kristen Lamb changed the way I thought about social media, writing, and writers in general.

Because of her, I’m now part of an incredible group of artists – not just writers, but artists in lots of different genres – who really truly care for each other. We look out for each other. We rally each other on. We help each other however we can. We’re friends. We’re colleagues. We’re confidants.

It’s amazing.

Several months ago, Kristen started a website called WANA International (WANA stands for We Are Not Alone). It’s a place for artists to go to network, learn, and grow. Click here to check it out. ¬†Once there, if you click on the ‘Tribe’ link, you’ll find an amazing networking page that allows you to meet and get to know other artists who are looking for people to connect with, work with, and support in their endeavors.

One of the things I absolutely love about this group of people is that it’s utterly non-exclusive. If you’re an artist, and you like people, you’re welcome to join! :) To prove it, we’re having a WANA party over at Twitter today from 5-9 pm (Central) tonight! Just use the hashtag #myWANA to join in the fun. Don’t be shy – we’re all eager to ring in the New Year (a little bit late), crank up the music, cut loose a little.

Some of my favorite tweeps to look for once you’re there are: @LenaCorazon, @GingerCalem, @bmcdowelloh, @jhansenwrites, @KristenLambTX, and @AugstMcLaughlin. My twitter name is @MyndiShafer.

Hope to see you there!

Big love,

Myndi

  1. Thanks for the shout out! Like you, I’m SO glad I stumbled upon the WANA class. Changed everything. Hope I get pop into the party tonight before I have to leave for a soccer thing.
